Once we diagnose and stabilise your treatment, your GP can continue prescribing the medication while we provide specialist oversight. It is important to add, however, that this is at the discretion of your GP and not all surgeries are willing to take from private prescribers. Please do have a conversation with your GP before commencing medications.

What happens if my young person cannot sit through the 2 hours of assessment?Try to ensure that the young person has adequate toys and games around to keep them entertained–part of the assessment is about observation and how well the young person is able to concentrate and focus. If they are finding it really difficult the assessment can be completed in more than 1 session.

Do I have to tell my young person why we are having the assessmentIt is preferable if you have had a discussion with your young person before the appointment–their opinion of the process is important

Is information from my young person's school required?As school will have seen your young person for a great number of hours, it is beneficial for them to have had an opportunity to express any concerns they too might have–we will always ask that request they complete some documentation.
