1. Screening

Issuing and collation of documentation needed to ensure ADHD assessment is necessary

2. Assessment

Assessment process (all our appointments are virtual) We will be observing for the young person or adults’behaviour, whilst asking a number of questions.

Time – 1.5hr-2.00 Hours

3. Physical Health & Medication Assessment

This appointment is for the collection ofphysical health information to ensure that that physically the person is well toundergone medication initiation. Discussion about the different medications prescribedfor ADHD and initiation and titration process.

    A shared care agreement enables private clinics likeNeurodev.co.uk to collaborate with your NHS GP. Once we diagnose and stabilise your treatment, your GP can continue prescribing the medication while we provide specialist oversight. It is important to add, however, that this is at the discretion of your GP and not all surgeries are willing to take from private prescribers. Please do have a conversation with your GP before commencing medications.
  • How often will I need follow-up appointments after starting ADHD medication?
    At Neurodev.co.uk, we recommend regular follow-up appointments every 4-6 weeks during the initial phase of medication management to ensure it’s working effectively. After stabilisation, these appointments will be at 3 month, 6 months and annually

    Yes we cannot conduct an assessment of the young person if they are not available for us to observe
  • What happens if my young person cannot sit through the 2 hours of assessment?
    Try to ensure that the young person has adequate toys and games around to keep them entertained–part of the assessment is about observation and how well the young person is able to concentrate and focus. If they are finding it really difficult the assessment can be completed in more than 1 session.
  • Do I have to tell my young person why we are having the assessment
    It is preferable if you have had a discussion with your young person before the appointment–their opinion of the process is important
  • Is information from my young person's school required?
    As school will have seen your young person for a great number of hours, it is beneficial for them to have had an opportunity to express any concerns they too might have–we will always ask that request they complete some documentation.
